Proactiv Review

Proactiv, commonly mispelled Proactive, is a very popular and highly advertised product on TV commercials – allowing them to claim it’s “America’s #1 selling acne treatment system.” With all the promotion on T.V. with celebrities, it would appear that it works wonders. But, is it all just clever marketing or does Proactiv really live up to the hype?

I spent some time searching the internet reading customer reviews and comments about Proactiv to find out if it truly is the real deal.

How Proactiv Works

Proactiv is a 3-step system that consists of a Cleanser, toner, and repairing lotion. Each product has it’s own specific task in the acne treatment job, and all three are usually bought as a kit from their website, or kiosk.

Proactiv uses a powerful 3-step regimen to completely remove and acne pimples. The primary benefits are that Proactiv is alcohol and oil-free, and uses prescription grade ingredients to attack and heal blemishes fast.

Proactiv’s chemicals penetrate the skin to clean, refresh and replenish skin. Proactiv is designed to be applied as a daily regimen.

Based on my research, a good portion of users were aggravated at the aggressiveness of the chemicals. A lot of users experienced irritation, redness, burning sensations after using it, and so on. Benzoyl peroxide is the main active ingredient, a known chemical for being too strong and irritating skin.

Using Proactiv

Twice a day you use the Proactiv Cleanser. This contains small beads which exfoliate your skin and get rid of dead skin cells. The Cleanser does contain a prescription grade benzoyl peroxide. This is what cleans bacteria from the pores leaving it ready for the toner. Some users claim the chemical is strong, so limiting the amount used is a solution.

Next is the Proactiv revitalizing toner, which is used to soothe and smooth the skin. This is a vitally important step, especially after using the benzoyl-peroxide based cleanser. The toner is alcohol-free, and is recommended to be used twice a day.

The last step, Proactiv repairing lotion, is applied after the toner drys. On their website, they state that if you’re going to be out in the sun, it’s a good idea to wear sunscreen after applying the lotion.

Applying Proactiv seems to be easy enough. Most users needed to modify the recommended dosage, but it will depend on how your skin can handle harshness. A few users noted that powerful chemicals in Proactiv dried out their skin. So, do be careful not to apply too much at one time.

Based on our research, Proactiv should be used as a daily regimen.

Pros:

- Most users saw results very quickly
- The price is affordable
- They have a solid money back guarantee

Cons:

- Bottles aren’t that big
- A few people said that it dried out their skin

Verdict of Proactiv:

Even though there’s plenty of hype on T.V. with celebrities, I don’t believe Proactiv should be taken off your list. The product has worked for hundreds, and thousands of people, and continues to get good reviews. As always, you can tweak the application dosages to fit your skin type. They have a 60 day money back guarantee, and results can be seen in as little as 2 weeks.

Proactiv is worth a shot for people suffering mild to severe acne who don’t have extremely sensitive skin. If you were tempted to giving Proactiv a try to fight your acne, I still suggest doing so because results can be seen in as little as 2 weeks.

Proactiv doesn’t work on all skin types. I have personally used this product and so has many of my friends. Your skin will improve for about two to four weeks but then because of the ingredients inside of it, your skin will adapt and return to its normal state before you used the product.

Proactiv didn’t work out for me because it was too harsh on my skin. Be careful with that stuff it is loaded with Benzoyl peroxide which seriously damages if you use it too much.
